El Faro de la Entallada
Situated just outside of Las Playitas this is probably my favourite lighthouse on the island. Build in the eary 1950´s it´s perched on the top of a fabulous cliff with spectuar views of the sea and the beautiful landscape of Fuerteventura. The road leading to it is narrow and at times a little too scary for my liking but it´s well worth it when you get to the top.
I always find it a shame that it hasn´t been converted into a museum or a viewpoint, or that you can´t go inside but it really is a delight to look at. It´s quite windy at the top so I would recommend a hat or at least something to cover your ears and you definately need your camera!
If you have time, it´s worth exploring off road in the area as there are some beautiful bays to be found. Las Playitas is a pretty but small town mainly taken up by the huge sports resort and if you want to stop for lunch I would recommend making the short trip down to Gran Tarajal instead.
